United Group Alatau JSC (hereinafter – the “Company”) is a banking holding that received regulatory approval by Resolution No. 218 of the Management Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NBRK) dated November 15, 2017 for the acquisition of First Heartland Bank JSC (formerly RBS/ABN AMRO (Kazakhstan)) and by Resolution No. 24 of the NBRK dated February 1, 2019 for the acquisition of Alatau City Bank JSC (formerly Tsesnabank).
The Company directly and indirectly owns 11 subsidiaries, 7 of which are participants of the UGA banking conglomerate:
- Alatau City Bank JSC
- Alatau City Invest JSC
- Alatau City Garant JSC
- Optima Bank OJSC
- First Heartland Capital JSC
- ACB Development LLP
- Jusan Inkassatsiya LLP
As the parent organization of the banking conglomerate, the Company manages the conglomerate’s capital adequacy on a consolidated basis and ensures compliance with prudential requirements established by the NBRK for banking conglomerates: total capital adequacy to risk-weighted assets and contingent obligations, maximum exposure to a single borrower relative to total capital for related parties, third parties, and unsecured loans.
